The Hot Chick Politic Show | Basic Human Connection

New Sacramento podcast "The Hot Chick Politic Show." HCP delivers informed conversations about society, charity, education, and small business. One of our mantras is "think globally, but act locally." We believe, here at HCP, that by getting familiar with the people associated with these categories (the doers) we can grow a more compassionate society. We would love to see voter turn out grow with every election, and for America to become a voting culture. Now, we have all heard the history about winning the right to vote, but less than half of all Americans actually vote. We can do this. Please take a minute to check out The Hot Chick Politic Show and listen for yourself ☺

How To Talk About Racism Part 3

Nov 9, 2016

We've got our work cut out for us. A little less than half of Americans are blind to institutional -isms that are all to clear and apparent to the rest of us. We need to dig deep. Start and continue conversations with these people. They are not all bad, they are just unaware and are ruthlessly holding on to an American Dream Ideal that excludes/disheartens a majority of Americans. This ideal is buried into the psyche of those privileged enough to accept this ideal as a universal truth. It is not. We need to skillfully target and awaken our fellow Americans. It is our duty. We have come this far, we cannot let this set back defeat us.

I have started a series on The Hot Chick Politic Show about Racism. My goal is to give everyone conversational tools and confidence to communicate with one another on a deeper level of understanding than ever seen before on this planet.

Each podcast is 8 min in which I read excerpts from books that everyone should read about -isms. Starting with racism.
This first series is featured a book named "Why are All the Black Kids Sitting Together In The Cafeteria?" By Beverly Tatum
This can be sort of like a book club. I will introduce books, Read excerpts for those who want the edited version, And encourage open dialogue throughout.

We are in this together,
Tami Diane

Hello Friends,

Happy New Year! This episode of The Hot Chick Politic Show is about awareness.  Our guest, Jen, is well traveled and has just returned from a trip to Uganda.  She was there to work with a non-profit organization that educates young girls.

She shares about her experience and we chat about the impact of travel, globalization, and putting yourself out there.

2015 was a big year for my family.  We are now a family of five! The kids are 5,3,and 2 months.  This should help explain the background noise during the show. lol!

Enjoy!

Hi Friends,

Our show today is continuing our dive into the workings of our educational system.  We are talking with Special Education Counselor/ Marriage and Family Intern, Gina.  She has a passion for helping our kids deal with social/emotional difficulties that affect personal performance/well being at school.

Also, we've added a new segment to the beginning of the show where I take a few minutes to talk about one or more important current events and offer my take on it.  This week I offer my two cents on the Iran Nuclear Deal.

Thank You,

Tami Diane

Hi Friends,

Its been a month or so since our last podcast.  The last few months have been amazing and eye-opening for me. I've met/reconnected with some amazing people, each of whom has contributed so generously their time and insights into some important discussion topics.

I've spent the the last month or so reflecting on the work we've done together and dreaming about upcoming interview possibilities.  Also, taking time to focus on mommy/household duties.  We are expecting out third child this October! We have a 4 year old boy, 2 year old girl, and this one will be a boy 👼

As my mind turns and curiously gets the best of me, I've found myself enthralled in a journey for a deeper understanding of society. Specifically, religion, and how it plays a role in our everyday lives.  The 3 most influential monotheistic religions of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism are my main focus.

By understanding the history, tradition, and how religious leaders  interpret recent changes in society. I can't wait to share more with you all about this topic.

In the meantime, we have some great interviews lined up for July and should have a new podcast available sometime this month. Thanks you all for following and listening!!

Hello Friends,

Today we are getting to know Shelley.  She is a 3rd grade teacher.  She shares her perspective on common core.  She opens up about how students, teachers, and parents are adapting to the new teaching standards.

Shelley has a lifelong passion for giving back to the community and really possesses a passion for education.  She is deeply rooted to her community and genuinely cares about each student and giving them tools to help solve problems in society.

Common Core, she believes will give each student in America the tools they need to think critically and outside of the box.   As a brand new teaching standard, Common Core implementation is uncharted territory for everyone involved.

Communication, patience, and getting informed will help us all make this transition successful.

Thank You,

Tami Diane
